Art Deco Lacquered and Gilded Bas Relief Plaque After Emile-Jacques Ruhlmann

Unavailable

Our wonderful plaque depicts the chariot rider after the original design by Emile-Jacques Ruhlmann (1879-1933) that was featured on his macassar ebony sideboard dating from 1921. See our image of the example from the collection of Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris.  It measures 55 in across and 42.5 in tall and is crafted from panels with incised designs that are painted and covered in silver and gold leaf, and abalone or mother of pearl.  Apparently unsigned.  It was purchased from the Anne Hauck gallery in Los Angeles twenty years ago for $14,500.

In good condition, it has some scratches, nicks and small losses at the edges.

Additional images forwarded upon request.
