Our client's finely painted Royal Vienna porcelain charger depicts the Kiss of the Wave, circa 1880s, after the original painting by Gustav Wertheimer.  19 5/8 inches in diameter and in excellent condition.  Signed Kaulbach.  Underglaze blue Royal Vienna shield mark and title, Wellenkuss, on verso.

This popular allegorical work by Wertheimer depicts a nude female in amorous embrace with a shipwrecked man amongst a tumultuous sea and ominous sky.
