Antique/Vintage 1920s Telescopic Cigarette Holder Enameled Brass/Alum/Bakelite 34"L AS IS

$75.00
Quantity available: 1

Telescopic cigarette holder from the Roaring 20s, with enameled brass stem, Bakelite tip, and aluminum extension.  MISSING MOUTHPIECE, though they appear to be available on the internet.  The original was Bakelite, as the remains are in the aluminum shaft.  Yellow background with red and green enamel paint blotches, much like an India Ink technique.  Extends to a full 34" long!   Originally designed to cool the tobacco vapors before they reached the mouth, as cigarettes were relatively new, and had no filters at the time.  I can imagine these devices were also useful at keeping unwanted strangers at a distance in a crowded dance hall!  Either way, an interesting piece of tobacco history.  Has missing mouthpiece as noted, minor chipping near ends and 1 spot of missing enamel near center of shaft as shown.  Sold as is.  Inglenook Antiques...Established 1989.
