Orrefors Shark Slayer Vase by Vicke Lindstrand - Art Deco Period

Unavailable

Our glass vase, circa 1937, is known as the Shark Slayer and was designed by Vicke Lindstrand (1904-1983) for Orrefors.  It measures 12 5/8 by 9 inches and is executed in clear glass with the engraved figure of a diver and shark in frosted glass above a footed base.

Underside signed "Orrefors Lindstrand 1753 A3 EG" indicating the model number, series, number and the initials of the engraver, Emil Goldmann, who worked for Orrefors from 1923 through 1939.

In excellent condition, with a handful of light scratches, and a deeper scratch from the edge of the underside.

Very few examples of this fine design have appeared online or at auction in the past twenty years.  One of the known most recent sales occurred at Bonham's on June 15, 2010, where lot 2215, a vase of the same period (-1939) sold for $5,795.
