Rare early eight tune  key wind music box by Nicole Freres, Geneva. Mechanics numbered 20622 and base inscribed the same with additional information. This box dates to circa 1840. Fine original condition including original, wonderful, bird's eye maple case. All mechanics original and in fine working order. Original keys. Movement signed "Nicole Freres / A / Geneve" (See Photo). Base of case also numbered and signed. (See photo). This box was purchased from an estate and is priced to sell quickly. This is not your typical music box.  Barrel is 11 1/2" length; each tune between 52 seconds and 58 seconds aprpoximately. Each rotation of barrel is approximately 1 minute 50 seconds. Therefore two tunes per rotation. Case has minor crazing, no varnish on inside of case, original blocked feet, plays well but mechanics should be cleaned and oiled. Comb showing some tarnish which is normal. Prior restoration to a few tips on the comb. Original 19th century keys for both winding and case locking.
