The little piece is shaped like a tiny barrel with a neat rib detail at the top and bottom. It is made from one single piece of hand turned wood (looks like rosewood) and on the top it screws-off to reveal a little lid. Attached to the lid is some kind of rubber stamp or blotter. It is just an amazing little piece and only measures about 1" tall. Some barrel inkwells are just about identical in design, but have a bottle inside instead and are much larger. Amazing little piece! Dates to the 1850s-1860s range! In good condition but t is an old crack in the wood - doesn't move at all though so it is very tight. Buyer pays S.+ H.
