Peck, Stow, & Wilcox Carpenters Ratchet Brace 12 inch
This is a nice antique 12" sweep ratchet brace with rosewood handles, and patented spring jaws in the chuck. It is marked "P. S. & W. GUARENTEED" (inside the round logo) and "03021" on the arm. It measure 6" from center of chuck to centerline of the swing arm handle. (12" diamenter swing). All the moving parts, chuck, jaws, ratchet system and handles are in very good working condition. All the wood is solid, with some minor dents and scratches noted. There is very little pitting noted on the steel arms, and some on the chuck sleeve, but none noted on the interior parts, not rusty now anywhere, clean, polished, oiled and ready to work. The end handle is ball bearing type drive. A rarely seen vintage brace from the early 1900's era!
