Our client's delightful oil on canvas by Paul Seignac (1826-1904) depicts a mother adoring her child during bath time.  Stretcher measures 21 1/4 by 25 1/2 inches and the period giltwood frame, 34 1/2 by 38 1/2.

Signed in lower left.  Rear of the canvas bears the stenciled mark of Paul Contet of Paris which reads TOILES a PEINDRE a COULEURS FINES/P.CONTET/ PARIS/34, Rue Lafayette, 34.  

Craquelure to the painted surface, rubbing wear, scratches and small losses to the frame. 20th century restoration to a rear including patch to rear and inpainting.
