Pair Louis XVI Style Bronze Mounted Porcelain Vases

Unavailable

Our pair of porcelain vases, circa 1880s-1890s, are based on the Sevres design, circa 1765, in the Greek style with baluster form, fluted pedestal, and base embossed with acanthus leaves and compartments topped with headband decorated with medallions adorned with the portraits of six lovely females, with neck and fluted pilasters of leaf garlands and topped with frieze decorated with Greek key motif.  Each 19 inches tall.

The original design featured the medallions of Roman emperors and was designed by Jean-Claude Duplessis (1699-1774), artistic director of the Vincennes manufactory and the subsequent Sevres manufactory from 1748 until his death in 1774.
