Pair French Rock Crystal Style Glass and Silver Ewers

Unavailable

Our pair of antique French ewers are crafted from blown crystal to mimic the appearance of rock crystal with silver mounts. Each approximately 11 1/4 inches tall. Maker is unknown and we have not found a maker's mark. They carry the French export mark used between 1840 and 1973.

Condition of each is good. There are a few small nicks to a few of the raised narrow vertical ribs. There is a gap between the top rim of the glass neck on one ewer where it should meet the bottom rim edge of the silver mount. This silver mount may have been reattached.  The glass top rim edge in the exposed area of the neck has an area that's rough. Each hinged lid is in good working order. One sits slightly raised above the ewer. Originally gilt, each with rubbing wear throughout with little of the original gold surface remaining.  One of the chestnut shaped ball finials shows a few small indentations.
