Ophelia's Garden Necklace - Vintage Gothic enamel rose chandelier drops - festoon pink and peridot fairy colors

Unavailable

Ophelia, sometimes known as the young woman from Hamlet (who is depicted as lady in the lake painting by John Everett Millais), was thought to have fallen from a willow tree and found floating in a a stream that was laden with fantastic garlands ,crow-flowers, nettles, daisies, and long purples. When she died, the Queen sprinkled flowers on Ophelia's grave ("sweets to the sweet,") and says she wished Ophelia could have been Hamlet's wife. This necklace, full of enamel roses and vines and green sparkling leafs, with drops of glass the color of the sunset and green grass, dramatizes the scene of a young woman who loved and lost and was taken back to the earth with the grace of nature. Wearing this intricate and feminine festoon drop necklace with large faceted green glass drop will bring you to a time when love stories were full of passion and fever. This necklace has tiny green and pink rhinestones that are like dew drops on the enamel flowers. Each flower has been enameled to give it age and beauty and copper sparkles to reflect the sunlight. .The necklace is 20" long with an additional 4" center drop and two glass side swags. IT is in excellent condition and quite medieval and full of charm.
