This is a clean and sharp .50" wide, mortise socket chisel that is marked by the maker, "OHIO TOOL CO.".  A well known tool maker from Colombus OH.   It is very heavy duty with a large oversize socket to mount a heavy duty handle. This one is in working order, considering the years. There is plenty of length, 10.5" cutting edge to end of socket, 14.5" including the handle. We note some pitting on the underside, with most of it at least a 1/4" behind the cutting edge, with just one tiny edge corner pit note currently that shouldn't affect use, but may need to be sharpened back a bit more to suit your application.  There is also a rough cast surface down the side of the 1/2 inch width as well, most likely as cast and was not machined smooth.  The important area around the cutting edge is very clean as you can see in the pictures. The cutting edge on this chisel holds an edge very well, a pleasure to use! The handle is solid, with no cracks, fits the socket well, very solid hardwood, some minor dings noted. This is a good usable chisel most likely from the mid-19th century, most likely used in timber frame/mortise/tenon construction.
