Excellent quality antique 19th-century Hungarian-Transylvanian cross, a jeweled crucifix, beautifully handcrafted in baroque style in solid, partially gilded silver.

It has been crafted by hand in a beautiful baroque style using solid silver that is partially gilded. This exquisite crucifix has been made by hammering many individual elements together, chiseling and engraving them finely, and then setting them with jewels. The jewels used are 25 natural turquoise cabochons, 4 small faceted garnets, and 3 large garnet cabochons.

At the top of the base, there are three little angels which are cast and hand-chiseled. The angels hold books made separately and then soldered to their hands. The base is supported by three legs that resemble winged angels, and they are also cast and hand-carved.

We have thoroughly examined the crucifix and can confirm that it is made of silver with a purity of at least 800-850. There are no visible marks on it, and we have tested it with acid to verify its authenticity. It is important to note that this crucifix is not hallmarked, which is typical for many custom-made silver objects from Transylvania during the 18th and 19th centuries. This crucifix was undoubtedly made for a wealthy individual based on its exquisite craftsmanship, precious metal, and the use of precious stones.

CONDITION: In good condition for its age, the object shows slight wear to the gilding, indicating usage and age.
