Antique Socket Framing Chisel 3/4 inch

Quantity available: 1

This is a nice clean, antique, heavy duty framing chisel/slick in very good useable condition.  It is 15.35" long overall x .75" wide.  It is not marked by the maker, I find no name marks on it at all.  It has a very sharp ready to use cutting edge, and a very solid fitted handle with the iron ring at the end to prevent handle splitting.  It appears this chisel is the laminated type with a tempered steel on the underside from the cutting edge several inches back, and a softer steel on the rounded top and socket areas of the chisel.  We also note that the socket was most likely hand formed and shape (a way some chisel makers manufactured chisels in the mid-1800's era.  We note some upper edge dings in the softer steel, but considered minor wear.  A nice mid-1800's framing chisel!
