Museum quality antique 19th century Islamic, North African Maghrebi, "Arabic Moroccan dagger Jambiya with curved tapering double-edged hand forged steel blade
A wooden grip of characteristic form, a silver ferrule, and a peacock's tail pommel, chiseled in foliate in its solid silver. Solid silver beveled scabbard, chiseled with expanded flower heads and scrolling foliage.
This dagger has retained its original finely hand braided black silk suspension cord.
This dagger is better quality than average Moroccan jambiya with an extremely fine quality silver mountings ever seen in this type of jambiya.
REFERENCES: This is a museum-quality dagger, which can be found on display in museums. A similar Moroccan Jambiya from the French Museum is published in the book "Islam: Les Armes Blanches de l'Atlantique à l'Indus" by Alain Jacob on page 9.
