Superb quality Antique circa 1900 A.D. Portuguese gold gilt Bronze sculpture depicting a Portuguese knight Saint Dom Nuno Alvares Pereira or the Condestável (1360-1431) regarded as the greatest strategist and Portuguese military genius. Led forces number less than the enemy and won all battles fought.

He is holding a sword and wearing full armour with tunic adorned on the chest and the sleeves with his coat of arms. The quality of this sculpture is remarkable, all the details of the armour and knight's head are hand chiseled with fine details.

The sculpture is mounted on its original marble base with a brass plaque on the front, hand inscribed, “Nuno Alvares” “Barbeitos” “Lisboa”.
