Antique Polish Winged Hussar War Hammer Nadziak 17th Century Poland
Authentic, antique 17th century, Polish horsemen War Hammer “Nadziak” used by the Polish Winged Hussar’s and Armoured companion (Towarzysz pancerny).
Massive steel head, comprising a rectangular faced hammer, balanced by a down - curved, beak-shaped fluke, of tapering rectangular section. The steel head is finely inlaid with copper strips fitted on the top with an oval domed iron cap chiseled with cross.
Mounted on its original wooden haft, fitted with reinforcing iron side-straps and domed iron cap at the base in the form of the flower head, with ring for suspension cord.
Overall length, including the iron loop for suspension cord: 61 cm (24.2 inches)
Overall length of the steel head: 16 .5 cm (6.5 inches)
WEIGHT: 896 grams.
CONDITION: In its original condition showing age and usage with an old patina.
