Antique early 20th century splendid, Philippines Mindanao, Muslims, Moro people Islamic sword/dagger Punal -Gunong
A sturdy double edged flamboyant hand forged steel blade with 9 luks ('waves’)
Silver-plated copper hilt with an elaborate crossguard, engraved with palmettes and floral motifs with gold gilded Baykaskas-Budbud (ferrule collar) with filigree central knob.
In its original silver scabbard with wood insert, engraved over its full surface with palmette cartouches and floral sprays ensuite to the hilt and enclosed by four gold gilded bands.
CONDITION: In good condition overall, with minor wear, some dents on the grip and the bottom of the scabbard, blade slightly pitted. Please notice that the pictures in the listing are part of the description of the condition of the object. Fine age patina with signs of usage, this is one of the better examples of a Punal which we have encountered.
