Antique Minton bowl with heraldic family crests for the liason between the Ross, Leith, and Arbuthnot (Edinburgh) clans of Scotland.  Impressed marks for Minton and 1857.  Entirely hand painted, and distributed by Phillips of London.  Mottos "Agnoscar Eventu/ Innocent and True/ Trustie to the End", accompanied by an "M" with bar across middle, a peacock's head, and a Christian cross.  Burgundy red and gold border on the flat rim.  Measures 10"d and 1.75"h.  In surprisingly good condition for it's age, with only two hairline cracks to the rim, that each measures 1.25"l.  No other chips or cracks.  Sold as is.  Inglenook Antiques...Established 1989.
