This tall and deep ceramic bowl with a slip-cover and splash glaze is supported by a short disc-shaped foot. The inner walls of the bowl are divided into four panels by painted green splashed radiating lines.

The panels are embellished with brown drop-shaped cartouches. Two of the cartouches have lobed leaves on the inside, with incised scrolls, and are surrounded by green and brown dots. The other two cartouches have brown triangles decorated with green and brown dots. All the designs are painted on a beige ground. The exterior rim of the bowl has a brown scroll pattern under the glaze.

The drop-shaped cartouches and three colors - beige, brown, and splashed green dots, are typical for the Fatimid ceramics from the 10th -11 century AD (364 AH – 441 AH).

NOTE: Splash-glazed Abbasid potteries are extremely rare and seldom seen, not only for sale but also in museums.
