Authentic antique, medieval, 15th century A.D. (803 AH – 906 AH) Syria, Mamluk period, Islamic Blue –And – White Jar - Vase of elegant tapering baluster form with a short neck and everted flat rim, standing on a low splayed foot – ring. Body hand Painted in blue on a white ground with five lobed medallions enclosing a floral design covered with thick crackle glaze.

 

CONDITION: Showing its age and usage with beautiful old patina, chipped in several places including the base, neck rim, and the surface of the body, otherwise intact. No restorations or repairs.

 

MEASUREMENTS: Height: 26.3 cm (10.35 inches). Width: 20.6 cm (8.11 inches).

 

WEIGHT: 2.537 kg

 

The Blue – And – White colors, lobed medallions, floral pattern and the Ginger Jar shape of this vase were inspired by Chinese, Ming Dynasty porcelain imported to the Mamluk Sultanate.
