Delft Blue and White Ceramic Plaque in Style of Nicolaes Berchem
This antique blue and white glazed picture tile depicts a hound hunting a rabbit in a wooded and rocky landscape in the style of the paintings of Nicolaes Berchem (1620-1683), the master Dutch painter revered for his pastoral landscapes, allegorical and genre paintings. Believed to be of English origin (likely Staffordshire), or possibly French or Dutch origin. Signature in lower left corner appears to read "Regan". Tile measures 7.5 by 9.7 in (19.0 by 24.6 cm) and the frame measures 10.3 by 12.5 in. Condition is very good. There are losses at the edges on the reverse, but the obverse is in excellent condition.
