Antique Empire Style Mahogany Flip-Top-Game Table

Antique Empire Style Mahogany Flip-Top-Game Table
This Antique Empire Style Mahogany Flip-Top-Game Table, circa 1860, is a relic from America’s Antebellum South. This stunning piece of pre Civil War history has the classic scale and style of southern made furniture, typically constructed with mahogany over southern yellow pine. Its flip-top design offers enduring beauty and functionality, and although it was originally designed as a game table, it could easily function as a console table, server, intimate dining table, or placed against the wall; the perfect addition to the family, dining, living or game room area. Its top spins around and flips over to reveal a hidden compartment – the ideal place to store all sorts of gaming accoutrement or whatever else needs to be tucked away. Constructed out of beautifully figured flamed mahogany veneer over southern yellow pine, the table has a curved top and apron and is supported by a traditional vase shaped base that has a center finial and carved floral and beaded design above its scalloped center base with scrolled feet. The Antique Empire Style Mahogany Flip-Top-Game Table has the original casters, measures, 29.00 inches H X 33.25 inches W X 16.50 inches L, in the closed position, and 28.25 inches H X 33.00 inches W X 33.25 inches L in the opened position, and is in the original finish with a deep rich patina, no doubt achieved from many years of excellent care.
