A very fine Chinese antique silk embroidered festival hat, Qing dynasty, late 19th century, modelled as a dragon.

This special hat has been carefully embroidered all by hand with the finest materials with the greatest attention to detail, there is so much going on in this beautiful piece.

The front of the hat resembles the dragon, incredibly designed with large eyes and ears, the back of the hat features a fabulous and detailed raised Koi carp fish leaping towards the dragon over a lotus flower for its great transformation into the dragon.

It is lined inside with a cotton fabric.

Condition overall is good, slight marks here and there and a little fade inside, some small pin holes in the red silk.

This would likely have been a boys hat.

We have a selection of Chinese festival hats that have all come from the same family and kept together.

Approx 20" circumference, 10.5" length, fish 4" length, dragon spans 10"
