This is an antique 19th-century Russian oil painting on a metal panel, possibly iron. The painting is titled "Russian Peasant Dance."

In this beautiful scene, we can see a group of Russian peasants wearing traditional Russian clothes and celebrating joyously outside the village inn. The peasants are standing near a barrel covered with a board on which a bottle of vodka has been placed. A young man is playing balalaika, a traditional Russian musical instrument, while one of the peasants is performing the traditional Russian squat dance, also known as "прися́дка" (prisyádka). He is being watched by three other men.

We are selling two paintings with the same theme, both painted by the same artist. Although they were bought as a pair, they are being sold individually. The catalog number of the other painting is R186.

DIMENSIONS: 27.5 cm x 22.3 cm (10.83 inches x 8.78 inches).
