Antique 17th-18th century huge hand hammered Ottoman Armenian Tinned Copper deep charger, platter, bowl, plate. The object has a broad rim engraved with four cartouches enclosing two lobed medallions engraved with a floral pattern, one with stylized bird and another with an inscription in Eski Osmanlı Türkçesi (Old Ottoman Turkish) in Arabic alphabet “Mustafa”, has some other illegible writing in Arabic alphabet. All medallions surrounded by bands of interlocked palmettes including a small cartouche with an Armenian inscription. The back of the rim is engraved with a long narrow cartouche comprising the maker's name in Armenian Alphabet “Son of Manwel Galust”, and an inscription in Arabic with the owner name “Sahib Salman”.

 

MEASUREMENTS:

Diameter: 38.4 cm (15.2 inches)

Height: 5.5 cm (2.17 inches)

WEIGHT: 1.641 kg (3.618 lbs)

CONDITION: Showing age and usage with an old patina and slight worn tinned plating. The suspension mount for hanging the charger on the wall is a latter addition.
