Antique 16th-18th c India Hindu Miniature Bronze Figure Of Sri-Lakshmi

Unavailable

This is a bronze miniature figure of Sri-Lakshmi, a Hindu goddess from 16th-18th century India. The figure stands in a sensual tribhanga pose on a round base over a square plinth. Her right arm is extended, and her left arm is raised with a lotus blossom.
She wears a long dhoti with incised foliate patterns and an elaborate pendant belt.
She is also adorned with jewelry and a breast band, and her hair is piled into a high chignon.

MEASUREMENTS: Height: 4.5 cm (1 3/4 in).

CONDITION: The figure has been used for several centuries, and its appearance bears evidence of the passage of time. Over the years, worshippers have frequently rubbed the exposed parts of the statue as a sign of devotion, leaving behind a natural, dark brown patina. This patina results from the gradual accumulation of oils and dirt from human hands, which has caused the statue's surface to darken in color. Despite the signs of wear, the figure's overall form remains intact and serves as a testament to its cultural and religious significance.
