Neoclassical Bronze Mantel Clock After Jean Louis Gregoire (1840-1890)

Unavailable

Our fabulous mantel clock features the finely cast, silvered and partially gilt bronze figures of Perseus freeing Andromeda, by Jean-Louis Gregoire (1840-1890).  In this very unique clock design the sculpture has a circular mount that fits into the top of the clock and rotates by hand.

Grégoire studied at the Ecole de Beaux-Arts in Paris. He exhibited at the Salon from 1867 to 1889 where he became respected for his allegorical subjects. He exhibited a plaster statue of Andromeda at the Salon in  1870 and an example in marble in 1874.
