Napoleon III Bronze Mounted Ebonized Cabinet Bookcase with Brass Marquetry

Unavailable

This tremendous cabinet in the French Napoleon III style dates from the late 19th century and was crafted and retailed by Druce & Company of London. Measures 95.1" high, 67" wide, and 14.2" deep. Inspired by the designs of Boulle under Louis XIV, this ebonized mahogany cabinet features extensive ormolu bronze mounts and brass marquetry.  Lower cabinet doors open to reveal two shelves with old red velvet and the Druce and Co. nameplate.  The upper cabinet features glazed and curved glass side panels and glazed doors and two adjustable shelves.   Overall condition is good.  There is a crack with losses to the brass in the upper left section of the lower left door, and other minor cracks to the brasses.  There is a narrow vertical crack on the left side of the cabinet, and a few missing mounts, including the reed-and-tie border to the upper window on the right side, and the glass is cracked in the upper panel as well.  We have a glass conservator standing by the replace and install this section at our cost.  This item is being sold as-is.  Additional images gladly forwarded upon request.
