Nanna Ditzel Ludwig Pontoppidan Wicker Lounge Chair
Unavailable
This chair by Nanna Ditzel (Danish, 1923-2005) is sometimes referred to as the Pontoppidan chair, after Ludwig Pontoppidan, who produced the chair beginning in 1950 in Copenhagen. It features solid turned mahogany legs and stretcher, and woven wicker barrel-shaped seat. Condition is very good. There is a small tear near the bottom of the seat and various nicks and scratches to the legs, consistent with age. The design was first shown at the Annual Copenhagen Cabinetmakers exhibition in 1950. This design was documented in "40 Years of Danish Furniture Design", Teknologisk Institut, , Copenhagen, 1987, Volume 3, page 152. Additional images forwarded upon request. za-
