Our cloisonne enamel decorated trinket or jewelry box comes from the acclaimed Inaba studio of Kyoto.   Condition is good.  Hing is in fine working order.  The c-shaped insert to secure the box with top in upright position was not in place at time of photography.

Founded in 1886 by Inaba Isshin, a former samurai who began working in enamels in 1875, the firm was a competitor with Ando who produced designs and used techniques originating from both Kyoto and Nagoya.  Closed in the 1990s, its tooling and records survive in the archives of the Museum of Kyoto.
