Moser Glass Vase by Jiri Suhajek Circa 1980s

This amazing glass vase was designed by Jiri Suhajek (Czech Republic, 1943- ) for Moser and is believed to date from the 1980s.  Measures 9" tall, 10.5" wide and 4.3" deep (22.9 by 26.7 by 10.9 cm).  Condition is very good.  There is a tiny chip from the underside as seen in our closeup below, and no other losses or cracks.  Suhajek began working at Moser in 1962 after finishing the Secondary School of Glassmaking in Kamenicky Senov.  In 1964 he studied at the Academy of Applied Arts in Prague under Stanislav Libensky, and later completed studies at Venini in Murano and Venice. He worked as a glass artist at Moser from 1972 to 1994.  An artist with a worldwide reputation, he has taught in U.S., Sweden, Russia, Japan, Germany, and the Czech Republic.   He has won numerous awards and his designs are included in the collections of numerous important museums around the world, including The Corning Museum of Glass, Victoria and Albert Museum, Hokkaido Museum of Modern Art in Sapporo, Museum of Applied Arts in Prague, among others.
