MING / KANGXI BLANC DE CHINE KWAN YIN LARGE

Unavailable
Very nice example of late Ming of Early Kang Hsi blanc de chine. Very thickly potted as it should be the glaze is heavy and like milk jelly. The walls are very thick and the piece is really a tour-de-force of the potters skill.
Provenance: This piece was owned by Helen Nelson who's family founded the Nelson Atkins museum of Art in Kansas City and specialized in Asian Art. They also founded the Kansas City Star which is still the main newspaper of KC. This was purchased in the 1930s and placed on a lamp (without drilling or damage). Over the years the lamp must have loosened as the back was taped multiple times to the stalk which ran behind it. The is tape residue on the back of the piece. No damage other that factory splits in the base (which is normal) and the tip of a finger is missing. Other than that completely like it was originally. Height is 22" and width is 6"
