Millers Falls Scraper No. 296 Adjustable Swivel Head

Quantity available: 1

This is a very nice, quality made scraper, made by Millers Falls. It is very similiar to the Stanley No. 283 or the Starrett No. 194 Scraper, the major difference is in the way the blade is held. The dome shaped threaded nut at the end and the dome shaped washers behind the blade allow it to swival due to a hole in the center of the blade. Works fine. It measures 9.5" long and has a double sided blade with a width of 2 7/8". The blade is new pre-hardened tool steel with squared corners, precision ground, .055" thick x 4.5" long. This scraper is clearly marked in two places, one on the dome shaped nut, and also marked on the handle "MILLERS FALLS NO. 296" with most of the handle label still intact. This is a fine tool used for scraping insides of cabinets, scraping floors, to removing paint and varnish. It features an easy to adjust forward swivel head that allows blade positioning in several positions. Simply loosen the dome nut and position the blade to your liking, then tighten the nut to hold the blade, it holds in place very firmly. The blade handle matches the hard maple main handle and can be placed on either end of the blade, it is press fit onto the blade, holds very well, a simple slotted handle design. The top blade handle is in very good working order. The rear handle is in very nice shape along with the rest of the tool, some wear on the green stain finish mostly, no cracks, no damage on either wood handles. It has no rust, very nice shape overall. This is a great opportunity to purchase a rare antique tool!
