Lovely Victorian autograph album made of red leather binding, gold embossed, and a picture of a young girl on the cover. Binding is coming apart but all pieces there, and some pages are coming loose. Inside pages include cover page of Album printed with roses, dated autographs of various friends of Lewis V. Kemp of Ohio from 1886-1889. There are several pages bound inside the book with pictures of roses and covered by tissue paper. There are rose decal stamps applied to several of the pages. Many of the pages are filled in by writings of various (mostly male) friends. The writing style has a wonderful flair, and obviously the penmanship is done with real ink pens. What I find most unusual about this book is that it is so flowery and one that I might expect a woman to have. (I have several others to compare with.) There is also a newspaper article cut out mentioning that Lewis V. Kemp is a patient at Cleveland Clinic (undated). This autograph album has been in my husband's family, and subsequently in my house, for many years, and I know it to be authentic.
