Louis XVI Style Bronze Mounted Parquetry Inlaid Kingwood Desk with Faux Malachite Top
This lovely and finely crafted desk in the Louis XVI style dates from the early 20th century. 31.5 x 43 x 21 inches. It has a kidney shape with kneehole drawers showing hand-cut dovetails, frieze and drawers with inlaid parquetry, reeded gilt bronze mounted tapered legs with reed bronze mounts, but is most distinguished by its rare, faux malachite painted verre eglomise glass top.
There are numerous losses to the painted glass, plus a clean break and other cracks. There are chip losses to the underside of the center drawer, scratches and small dents throughout. We're confident the glass top may be restored by a glass conservator and painter.
