Louis XVI Style Gilt Bronze Candlestick Lamps

Unavailable

Our client's pair of antique figural bronze candlesticks in the Louis XVI style, modelled after the original design by Jean Démosthène Dugourc (1749-1825), feature three beautiful female caryatids decorated with Bacchus style masks and floral swags, surmounted by platform with frieze decorated with Greek faun masks and acanthus panels, surmounted by gadrooned candle cups decorated with lions masks.  The figures are set upon circular stands decorated with acanthus leaf and bead motifs.  Condition of each is good. There is oxidation and rubbing wear, surface dirt in crevices, all consistent with age, and a split to the footed base of the capital on one.

Each has been mounted with lamp sockets, hardware and wiring for use as lamps.  Bronzes alone measure 11.5 inches tall, and the lamps measure 25.5 inches tall to the top of the brass harps.  Each ready for use.

There are no shades included in this lot.
