Limoges Enamel Plaques Depicting Stations of the Cross
Our three nineteenth century enamel plaques, attributed to masters in Limoges, France, depict scenes from the Stations of the Cross, aka Via Dolorosa and Via Crucis, depicting events of Jesus Christ on the day of his crucifixion. Each approximately 9 1/2 inches (24.1 cm) square. In grisaille enemals with gilt highlights in quatrefoil shaped frames.
These plaques depict Jesus at trial, carrying the cross, and in the tomb.
