Our fine casting of Le Devoir (Duty) after Emile Picault (1833-1915) dates from the early 20th century and features a warm, light bronze patina. Measures 18 by 7.25 by 6.25 inches.
Picault has depicted this Roman warrior draped in lion skin, evoking the skin of the Lion of Nemea worn by Heracles. Beneath his long sword is a fallens shield inscribed HONOR PATRIA which translates to honor homeland/country.
