Unavailable

Late nineteenth century to early twentieth century carved oak plaque. This came from the family of a German man who migrated to New York. This and the next item WRI2 was executed in Coney Island, New York. When not carving commissions such as carousel animals, etc., decorative plaques were made. This, the larger of the two listed on this site by us features an allegorical scene of a man and woman on horseback. This is an extremely complicated work, all worked out of the block of oak with no applique. The background is also well executed. Both of these plaques were in the same family for three generations.

Wonderful original condition with no damage or restoration work noticed.
