Late Nineteenth Century To Early Twentieth Century Intricately Carved Wood Plaque In Oak, Coney Island, New York

Unavailable

Late nineteenth century to early twentieth century carved oak plaque. This came from the family of a German man who migrated to New York and executed this and the next item WRI1 in Coney Island, New York. When not carving commissions such as carousel animals, etc., decorative plaques were made. This, the smaller of the two listed on this site by us features a man holding a horn with dogs parading at his feet, all worked out of the block of oak with no applique. The background is also well executed. Both of these carvings were in the same family for three generations.

Wonderful original condition with no damage or restoration work noticed.
