Large Mexican Tonal'a Burnished Pottery Cat, Hand Crafted & Painted

Unavailable

Large Mexican Tonala Burnish Pottery Cat.    Hand Crafted &  Painted with a quail, butterfly and flowers.   It is not quite as orange as pictured here.  More of a brown tone.    It is of thick red clay that has been hand shaped into this resting cat shape, painted and burnished .   It is about 11.5 x 10.5 x 6 inches and weighs almost 6 pounds unboxed.      The condition is very good.   There are a few pock marks in the pottery surface and a few misplaced white paint strokes. But that is the nature of this type of hand made pottery that is created in fired in small family owned potteries in the area of Tonala.   Tonalá is a city and municipality within the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area in the state of Jalisco in Mexico.

This cat would be great on a patio or porch.  Since it is so heavy could even serve as a door stop.
