Large Ifugao Philippine Tribal Basket Hand Woven of  dark brown Rattan ,      It is  beautifully and intricately woven with a unique design. Mearsures approx. 15" wide and 11" tall with lid. 

I read that this is storage basket.  Then from another sourse I read it was a wedding basket.   

 Ifugao, meaning the people of The Hill, is a landlocked province of he Philippines in the province of Luzon. Their ancestors constructed fascinating rice terraces. These mountain tribes are still famous for their specific cultural expressions and their skills. They have skills in making many different kinds of baskets for their every day use
