A fine antique Chinese 17th - 18th century Qing dynasty large bronze incense burner censer on a stand bearing 16 Chinese characters marks on the base.

A compressed globular body raised on a flaring ring foot chased with foaming waves. The sides are applied with twin fish handles. The exterior is finely hand chiseled in relief with two Qiulong horned dragons pursuing flaming pearls amidst flames and the clouds on the chased ground, bordered by two bands incised with a Greek key pattern. The rim is finely hand chiseled with scrolling decoration on the chased background.

Solid bronze stand of circular form with three scroll-form feet hand chiseled with auspicious symbols including scrolls, flames, clouds, and double Ruyi head. The rim is finely hand chiseled with a Greek key pattern.

REFERENCES:

A similar censer was sold on Jul 15, 2016, by Hannam's Auctioneers Ltd in the UK for £3,800 plus a buyer's premium of 23% and plus 20% VAT (Tax).
