Lake-Erb B&E-Wire Tipper No. 1 Schollhorn Pliers Crimpers

Unavailable

Offering this rarely seen Schollhorn double ended wire tipper in the original wood box, with a supply of brass wire tips included in the box. The is a rarely seen type pliers, marked on the pliers "SCHOLLHORN CO. NEW HAVEN CONN. MADE IN U.S.A." and also the running dog logo (on the handle) with the name "BERNARD" inside the logo. It appears that the tipper section of these pliers was made by yet another company as that part of the pliers are marked "LAKE-ERB MFG. CO. NEW YORK NEW YORK U.S.A.". The idea of this wire tipper appear to be to give stranded wire a solid, smooth, round tip at the end, I would suppose it was for a particular application like telephone, communication, or perhaps even industial electricity wire like on machinery. The tips seem to finish at either 1/16" or 1/8" as the pliers offer two areas for tipping. The pliers are about 5" long, have a very strong spring that keeps them in the opened position. The wood box is rather narrow, so a heavy cloth case has been provide so the the pliers with fit in the box without pushing on the side of the walls of the box. The pliers are in good+ condition, clean and nice, very little wear, a few minor surface stains. The box is solid, has a good label on the top to match the name on the pliers. The box has a few small chipped off pieces of wood on the top wall area near the lid grooves, but the lid still slides into the grooves, and the finger joints on the box are holding. A nice clean, rarely seen designed pliers, in the original container from the early 1900's era!
