La Peche Native American Indian Bronze Sculpture by Duchoiselle

This magnificent bronze by the accomplished French sculptor, Duchoiselle, known as La Peche, is an allegorical work depicting a female American Indian who is fishing.  It measures an impressive 24.25 x 36.5 x 13 in (62 x 93 x 33 cm), and included is a marble floor pedestal.  According to Sotheby's, Duchoiselle created ceiling reliefs for the Louvre and the Garnier opera house in Paris in 1882.  He is also known to have produced this and its complimentary work, La Chasse, depicting a male American Indian embarking on a hunt with bow and arrow, in marble for the Frilli Gallery of Florence.
