Jens Risom Vintage Danish Mid-Century Modern Occasional Side Table

Unavailable

This occasional side rable by the Danish-American designer, Jen's Risom (1916-2016), dates from the 1960s and is crafted from teak with a white laminate top. It measures 18.25" high and the top measures 17.75" in diameter. Underside carries the original label from Jens Risom Design, the firm he launched after the second world war and which operated until its sale in 1970. Condition is good.  There is modest wear throughout, consistent with age, including dings/dents and scratches, minor chips to the edge of the laminate on the top.

Risom is credited with introducing Danish modern design to the American market, but his designs we're embraced worldwide.  His works are held in the permanent collections of many institutions, including the Museum of Modern Art, the Yale University Art Gallery, Brooklyn Museum, the Rhode Island School of Design Museum, and the Cooper–Hewitt National Design Museum. In 1996, Risom was presented with the Danish Knight's Cross by Margrethe II of Denmark.
