Our client's antique (nineteenth century) bust depicting the Greek warrior, Ajax, is finely modeled in terracotta with a light brown painted finish.  20.25 x 8 x 10 inches.

In good condition with numerous restorations, including repairs to losses and inpainting, and some unrepaired small damages, including scratches, nicks and small losses.

In Greek mythology, Ajax was a warrior considered the strongest of the Achaeans.  He played an important role in the Iliad by Homer.  Ajax was a cousin to Hector, and committed suicide with the sword provided by his cousin.
