Horse Bronze Sculpture Possibly Russian School

Unavailable

Our well-modeled and patinated bronze sculpture measures 11 by 16 by 9 inches, and depicts a domesticated, country horse wearing headpiece and bit, plus girth, seat and flap with blanket saddle, exploring wooded and rocky ground beside a square-shaped stone milepost (bearing the numbers 84, 97 and 121) in the style of Vasily Grachev (1831-1905).  Apparently unsigned and dating from the early to mid 20th century.  In good condition, with nice, rich brown patina and light signs of verdigris on underside.  Possibly of German or Russian origin.  Reminiscent of the works of Vassili Yacovlevitch Grachev (1831-1905), particularly a work entitled The Milepost.
