Hampton Boring Machine Auger Bit 2.06 inch

$68.00
Quantity available: 1

This is a very heavy duty 2.06" diameter heavy duty boring machine auger bit marked "C. F. HAMPTON" on the oversize 7/8" diameter shank.  This auger was made by CHARLES F. HAMPTON - ARDMORE PA and believed to have been manufacturing in the 1876 era.  This auger feature an extra long threaded lead screw, double cutting edge and spur.  This drill appears to have never been used, the cutting edges are in great shape!  The shank is a bit different than more antique augers, it is about 11" long and has some serration grooves on the shank that appear to have been made by some sort of chuck jaw grippers.  For boring machines with adjustable chucks, this will not present a problem since the shank is concentric and runs true to the spiral.  The auger is 20" long overall.  A rare auger, by a rarely seen maker!
